Big enough - but watch out!
The good: It is one of the only pots made specifically for canning that does hold 1/2 gallon jars.
The bad: It is so wide that it hangs off the edge of your stove! It was difficult to maintain an active boil even on my largest 'super' burner and it burned the countertop next to the stove! All that said, I am an avid canner (90 quarts so far this year!) and I will be using this again - but on my friend's commercial size stove.
