Tramontina Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle
Very nice, heavy weight tea kettle. Easy to clean. Very loud whistle. Great value for price.

The way a tea kettle should be made
Great quality and design. I can't think of anything I don't like about this tea kettle!

OK Kettle with some drawbacks
Tramontina is a Brazilian/American/Global company that makes some very nice tri-ply cookware lauded by America's Test Kitchen. I ordered this kettle after returning a cheaper one that was just a piece of junk from China. Imagine my dismay when my Tramontina kettle turned out to be made in China too. But it's reasonably heavy, so I decided to give it a test drive.

I found several reasons to "go hmmmmmm:"

According to the directions, one should only boil water at low or medium temperatures. Following those instructions, it took 18 minutes to boil 6 cups of water. You could keel over in the scrambled eggs from caffeine deprivation while waiting. The whistle is very high pitched. My dog comes running but it's a tad irritating to my ear. Or, the shrieky whistle might be a stroke of genius, as you'll race to turn it off.

While the pot seems to have a wide base, it's constructed with sort of a skirt-like overhang concealing a narrower circle of heavy steel...
